Course Overview

This course aims to provide the learner with an overview of the process of administering medication to clientsSUMMARYThe Royal Pharmaceutical Society has revealed that £300m worth of medicine is wasted each year and that the NHS spends approximately £8.8 billion on medicines in England every year. Furthermore around 4-5% of hospital admissions are due to problems caused by the incorrect use of medicines resulting in an estimated cost of £466 million a year to the NHS.

• State the legislation that underpins medication administration
• Explain the process you go through from ordering through to administration and also disposal of medicine
• Identify the different routes for administration of medicines and the possible drugs for each one
